Description
Poppies have always been my flower of choice to paint. Their stems look like gestural dancers blowing in the wind with large flower heads too big for their bodies. I like to try and capture their wispy nature and the delicate beauty of their tissue like petals.
I generally paint my poppies in series, focusing on different design ideas and color palettes. This painting is from a series of three paintings in a horizontal format, showing more of a close up of a tangle of long stemmed poppies.
